Jerry Cantrell Reveals New Album and Premieres Powerful Single “Vilified”

Posted on July 26, 2024July 26, 2024 By JP

Jerry Cantrell, the legendary Alice In Chains guitarist, is back with a powerful new album, I Want Blood set for release on October 18 via Double J Music. This album promises to deliver Cantrell’s signature sound with fresh intensity.

Cantrell describes I Want Blood as “a serious piece of work” and “a motherfucker” of an album. He emphasizes its hard-hitting nature and how it diverges from his previous album, Brighten. “There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing,” Cantrell states.

Fans can get a taste of what’s to come with the release of the album’s opening track, “Vilified”. This song showcases Cantrell’s powerful and nuanced style, setting the tone for the entire 45-minute album. “’Vilified’ travels a lot of places in just four and a half minutes,” Cantrell explains. “It’s got a ferocity and really aggressive vibe to it.”

The album was co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi, who has worked with iconic bands like Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, and Melvins. Recorded at Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, California, I Want Blood features contributions from renowned musicians, including Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Robert Trujillo of Metallica, drummers Gil Sharone and Mike Bordin, and backing vocals from Lola Colette and Greg Puciato.

I Want Blood is available for pre-order in CD, digital, and multiple 2LP vinyl formats. Exclusive to the vinyl versions are atmospheric, spoken word renditions of each song on the album, adding a unique touch for collectors and fans alike.
