Behind the Masks: Unraveling the Secrets of Dogma

Five women united by their religion in chaos, horror, and blasphemy—this could all be summed up in one word: Dogma. The group Dogma is one of the greatest mysteries of today’s metal world. And it is precisely this that makes them irresistibly attractive. That, and their tight outfits, of course.

For Dogma, mystery is just one of their dreams, while for us sinners, it’s the thing that intrigues us the most—and leads us into mortal sin. Let’s take a look at what is so mysterious about this band; maybe we’ll manage to uncover something. If that’s even necessary…

Mysteries Behind the Masks

The members of Dogma are: Lillith – vocals, Lamia – guitar, Nixie – bass, Abrahel – drums, and recently, Rusalka – guitar. That’s how it’s been from the start, and that’s how it will remain. So, what’s the issue?

Fans wouldn’t be true fans if, like proper sinners, they didn’t want to know who is hiding behind the masks. What can you do? That’s human nature. But it’s not just that.

Listening to their debut album, watching their videos or live recordings, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that the same people haven’t always been behind the masks.

Have there been lineup changes in the band? Yes, there have. Are their identities known? Well, in Dogma’s culture, such things are not revealed. However, there are rumors about the possible identities of some former members. If you’re really curious, keep reading…

Where Are They Coming From?

Another major mystery surrounding Dogma is the question of which country they come from. Judging by their early performances and the accents of the girls on recordings, fans (sinners) quickly concluded that they are from South America.

But exactly which country remains a big unknown. Rumors about the identities of some band members pointed to several different countries, which further confused fans and led them to believe that Dogma might be an international band—which, to a large extent, they are.

However, a few cryptic posts on social media and the recognition of a cathedral featured in music videos for the song Father I Have Sinned pointed to one specific South American country—the one where the first FIFA World Cup was held…

The “Dogma – Cancer” Video

If you thought that was all when it comes to Dogma’s mysteries, you are sorely mistaken. What about this?

If you’ve been curious, brave, and ready to embrace sin, you’ve likely explored the official Dogma YouTube channel and stumbled upon the video Dogma – Cancer. This video, uploaded in 2009, features a group of guys whose appearance and music style seem straight out of the 90s (the info section of the video indicates 1996) —completely different from what Dogma represents today.

Bizarre, isn’t it?

Among fans, a theory has emerged suggesting that this is a video from a channel Dogma purchased from someone and then forgot to delete the old content. However, that explanation feels unlikely and amateurish.

It’s more probable that the video is there for a reason. Why exactly, we don’t know.

But what if this is the true, original Dogma? What if those are the people hiding behind everything? Is that even a possibility?

Who Is Really Behind Dogma?

If not the guys from the aforementioned video, then who?

Do names like Ian Di Leo (founder/owner of the Uruguay-based management company IDL), Alvaro Rabaquino, The Dark Messiah, The Dusk Messiah, The Light Messiah, Dark Nalabroc, and Nasson Corbalan mean anything to you? Probably not—they didn’t to us either. But, as it turns out, these individuals have been linked to Dogma as the band’s producers, songwriters, and studio performers.

It all began with a series of social media ads in which some of these names were searching for female musicians for a rock/metal project involving touring, performing, shooting videos, and doing photo sessions. The only requirement? To sing in English.

Even this Rabaquino guy posted a drum cover of the song Father I Have Sinned on the same day the album was released, wearing the Dogma shirt. And remember, this was a brand-new, unknown band debuting their first album…

We won’t go into too much detail here, as this entire mystery—arguably the biggest one surrounding Dogma—is meticulously documented on the WeAreDogma Reddit page. If you’re curious to learn more, you should definitely dive into those dark catacombs….

Conclusion

In the end, whether Dogma is backed by a team of musicians hiding behind the masks of the women on stage or not, there is nothing to hold against the performers themselves. They are real, and they genuinely play their instruments and perform.

Or perhaps none of this is true. That’s the point: much like bands such as Slipknot, Ghost, Sleep Token, and many others, Dogma has embraced mystery and built an extensive and intriguing lore around their image.

This isn’t the first time something like this has been seen in the world of rock and metal, but whoever is orchestrating this is doing an outstanding job. Dogma is growing bigger by the day, and their ideology is captivating an ever-increasing number of sinners around the world. Rest assured, we will be hearing a lot more about them in the future.

Oh, and we did promise to reveal who the women are—venture further at your own risk!
