Avoid This Band Wherever You See It

If you are a real music lover than you should really avoid this band wherever you see it. It is not such a common thing to write and you might start asking why is a rock music dedicated website telling you to avoid a rock band?

You might even think we’re crazy. But no, we’re not, don’t worry about that. What’s truly crazy here is this band called The Velvet Sundown. A new hot group in town? No, no, not even close. The real problem with this “band” is that it’s completely AI-generated.

If you go and start digging you are not going to find any digital or mechanical footprint of this band at all. No history, no previous or current gigs. Not even if you search for the names of the musicians involved, because there are no musicians. Even their band photo is AI-generated. They don’t have anything that makes them a real human band. Of course, their band bio on Spotify is also AI written, cause, you know, why the hell not!

However, what they have is half a million monthly listeners on Spotify! Now you tell us, our dear human (hopefully) readers – is this fair? This AI made band have more listeners than real bands that we like to talk about here on Junkyard. Musicians from bands who actually learned how to play their instruments, who’ve grinded and played shitty gigs with 17 people in attendance just to earn a dollar or euro enough to even pay to put their music onto these streaming platforms. Musicians who invested money, time, and heart into their gear, into their songs, into their dreams are being completely discouraged by this aberration.

All those new bands, young bands, up-and-coming bands can only dream of the numbers this AI monstrosity has got in such a short period. Who the hell is listening to this, anyway? Who the hell is getting royalties for this? Royalties for what? For a song called Dust ON The Wind or Rebel SHOUT?

This proves that this abomination is actually stealing from what is made by humans and is re-heating it in the most bizzare and awful way possible, and even earn from it! To be honest, this has gone too far. It is possible that other AI bots and algorithmic channels are actually “listening” to this, because no human should be investing a single second of their life into this. But that does not justify or lessen the negative consequences that this thing brings with it.

Next time you ask why young people don’t want to start new bands or buy a music instrument at all, think about The Velvet Sundown. This is killing not only music industry but everything related to it like music instruments industry and the art itself.

That’s why you should support real human bands now more than ever. On the other hand, avoid this with a 100-foot stick. Skip it. Dislike it. Block it. Whatever platform you’re using, just don’t engage.

Use AI as a tool, but don’t let it take over you.
