Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 1 – Soundtrack and Easter Eggs Breakdown
Peacemaker season 2 officially started on August 21, and it’s no secret why we love it so much here on these pages. And how could we not love it with such a strong soundtrack and so many interesting Easter eggs. Plus, we’re not movie critics so that allows us to focus only on sleaze glam and hair metal aspects of these series.
With that in mind, let’s make a little musical breakdown and see which sleaze glam bands showed up in this episode. No spoilers, just music and other interesting hair glam sleaze related stuff. Although even if there are, it won’t be a big deal. But you probably watched it already since you are here!
So let’s start!
Around 4:18 – we see Chris/Peacemaker (played by John Cena) walking around in only in short and Tigertailz shirt. Tigertailz are Welsh glam metal band founded in 1990 in Cradif.
Around 6:59 – we get the first song of the new Peacemaker Season 2 soundtrack. The needle drops on the vinyl or someone presses play, whatever you prefer, and at that moment “Oh Lord” by the band Foxy Shazam starts, which turns out to be the opening theme of this season. This song, which is on the third album of this American glam rock group from 2010, replaced the opening track of the previous series “Do You Wanna Taste It” by the band Wig Wam.
Around 9:00 – Chris enters the car with Leota Adebayo who at that moment was blasting and singing the big hit by the band Hanoi Rocks from the 1984 album Two Steps From The Move – “Don’t You Ever Leave Me”
Around 19:52 – Chris and agent Emilia Harcourt (played by Jennifer Holland) mention American rock band Thirty Seconds To Mars formed in 1998 in Los Angeles by Jared and Shannon Leto. The band Spin Doctors is also mentioned.
Around 22:17 – After the argument with agent Emilia, Chris goes back home and takes the “rainy day stuff.” He instantly falls into some kind of trance and from the speakers starts the song “Guestlist” by the band Hardcore Superstar. The Swedish sleaze rockers from Gothenburg have been on the scene since 1997. They are considered one of the biggest sleaze glam bands of the new wave, and the song “Guestlist” comes from the album Split Your Lip from 2010.
Around 28:40 – Another Foxy Shazam song we get in this episode when Chris enters his Quantum Unfolding Chamber. This time it is the song “Dreamer” from 2020 album Burn.
Around 33:26 – Agent Harcourt enters the seedy bar and starts a fight with almost everybody inside while the Silvertide’s “Blue Jeans” is playing from the jukebox probably. Silvertide are formed in Philadelphia in 2001 and this song comes from their 2004 debut album Show And Tell.
Around 40:00 – we can see several band posters but they are all spelled wrong like some kind of AI did it. So we have Scorpionz, The Cruel Intervetions (The Cruel Intentions originally), Hanoi Roxx, Hardcore Megastars and Deaf Leppard’s song Pour Some Honey On Me.
Final scene – since we said we won’t be giving you any spoilers, we’ll stick only to the music. The honor of closing the first episode of the new series went to the song “Outrage” by the Gothenburg band Sister Sin. This heavy metal group has existed since 2002 and the song comes from the album True Sound of the Underground from 2010.
All in all, not a bad new beginning at all. James Gunn surprised us all in the first season, so there’s no reason it won’t be the same this time. From the social media posts you can already sense some of the upcoming songs, but slowly, one step at a time—once the new episode comes out, we’ll be here to break it down for you.
