The Cruel Intentions Return to Whiskey A Go Go – “Beating In My Chest” Story Comes Full Circle
The Cruel Intentions are returning to the scene of the crime! The band has just announced via their social media that they will be performing at the legendary Whiskey A Go Go on September 23 this year.
Lizzy DeVine and the crew will once again step in front of the Los Angeles audience, this time with a new album in their pocket, which will already be released by then (May 29).
Everything is set for another hot night on the Sunset Strip. As we know, in the first single Beating In My Chest, Lizzy revisits the days when he was taking over Hollywood with his former band, Vains Of Jenna. It was exactly 20 years ago when Vains Of Jenna, a young and promising sleaze metal band from Sweden, was introduced to the American audience with the help of Steve Rachelle from Tuff. The rest is history.
Interestingly, after leaving Vains Of Jenna in 2010, Lizzy DeVine performed solo in Los Angeles. The band has never reunited, and in 2015 Lizzy formed The Cruel Intentions.
Another interesting detail from that era can be found in the lyrics of Beating In My Chest. In the verse after the first chorus, Lizzy sings: “Broke the rules with my good friend Kin / Painted dreams on our reckless skin.” That “friend Kin” is Nicki Kin, the former guitarist of Vains Of Jenna.
All in all, this will be a great opportunity for sleaze metal, in its rawest and finest form, to return to the very place where it was born in the ’80s. In conversations with friends of our site from Los Angeles, we’ve learned that interest in the show is huge and that a true spectacle is expected. So if you happen to be in LA around that time – you know what to do!
Beating in my chest lyrics
Wild hearts in a city of sin
We were legends in our own skin
Every night, like a final breath
Living loud, laughing close to death
Met my heroes on the Sunset Strip
Held a crowded whisky in my grip
Hit the road in a beat up van
Hollywood’s where it all began
It still echoes in my veins
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Give me one more ride, give me one more high
Give me one more reason not to say goodbye
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Broke the rules with my good friend Kin
Painted dreams on our reckless skin
Every thrill had a price to pay
But we’d do it all again today
Still running through my veins
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Give me one more ride, give me one more high
Give me one more reason not to say goodbye
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Los Angeles
Never ever coming back
Never ever, never ever coming back again
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Beating in my chest
Los Angeles
Give me one more ride, give me one more high
Give me one more reason not to say goodbye
Beating in my chest
Uh
