Old School Sleaze Returned Home In The Most Unexpected Way For One Night Only

Old school sleaze rock returned home, at least for a moment. The streets of Los Angeles still remember the birth of this micro scene in the mid-80s, when unknown bands like Guns N’ Roses, L.A. Guns, and Faster Pussycat were taking over Hollywood clubs. It was kind a like that this time as well, but in a slightly different light.

Members of Guns N’ Roses and Faster Pussycat gathered to pay tribute to the recently deceased Jennifer Perry, and in a very interesting lineup and combination. At one point, Slash and Duff McKagan took the stage as current GN’R members, joined by former members Gilby Clarke and Steven Adler. The icing on the cake of this unusual combination was legendary Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe, who took the position at the microphone. They played It’s So Easy, because what else in a situation like this, and reminded everyone of the glory days of sleaze rock, at least for a short moment.

The night honored Jennifer Perry, a key figure in the Los Angeles rock scene who passed away earlier this year after battling cancer. Perry played an important role behind the scenes during the rise of bands like Guns N’ Roses, Poison, and Warrant, and also worked on major projects like Ozzfest.

The connection between Faster Pussycat and Guns N’ Roses runs deep and all fans know it, but it is worth mentioning a more recent one that we wrote about not long ago, when Faster Pussycat guitarist Brent Muscat said in an interview that he almost became a member of GN’R in 1991. Many years later, we got a different kind of combination, this time with vocalist Taime Downe.

A Faster Illusion Appetite lineup of this super-group and one song played in honor of the legendary Jennifer Perry? Honestly, no complaints. It is good to see combinations like this even after so many years.

The only unanswered question left after this night was, actually there were two; but where is Axl, and of course where is Izzy? Well, maybe he’s still doing this.

By the way Guns N’ Roses are just about to start another leg of their never-ending tour on March 28th in Mexico. And if you ever wondered what are the best Faster Pussycat songs of all time, don’t worry, we got you covered!
