The Lost MySpace Pages of 2000s Rock Bands
Do you remember MySpace and discovering new bands on there, along with all those layouts, backgrounds, music players, messages and Top 8s? Yeah, we know what you mean right now: if only we had chosen self-expression over uniformity back then…
So, in that spirit, we’ve put together a list of 2000s sleaze rock and metal bands, with all the available pages of their former MySpace profiles.
But how is this even possible, you might ask? The answer is short and simple: thanks to the Wayback Machine.
It has preserved snapshots of many bands’ profiles from the past, offering plenty of interesting details, from their layouts and Top Friends to messages left by fans, band lineups, and information about where and when they played.
However, these are only snapshots rather than fully functional pages, although you can still click on many links and continue exploring this particular corner of the past.
The list focuses primarily on sleaze metal bands and the New Wave of Sleaze (Swedish Sleaze) scene that was active at the time. We’ve also included some bands from outside the genre that we simply like. Not every band has archived pages available, which is why some are missing. The snapshots are organized by year, and in many cases, we’ve left out some of them simply because there would be too many to include.
We’ve covered the period from 2004 to 2010. The earliest snapshots we could find for this group of bands date back to 2004, while 2010 was the last year of the original, unique MySpace layout that made the platform so recognizable. In 2011, MySpace underwent a redesign and began to look more like its competitors, losing some of its charm. You’re welcome to explore those later pages, too.
The list is not definitive, and some new bands can be added in the future!
That’s it. You can thank us later!
