Tobias Forge Calls ‘Lachryma’ One of His Favorite Songs Ever Written

Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge recently appeared on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter, where he opened up about the band’s creative process, unreleased material, and his personal connection to certain songs — including one standout track from the band’s upcoming album Skeleta.

One moment that caught our attention was Forge’s comment about the song Lachryma from Skeleta. He didn’t hold back when expressing how much the track means to him:

“‘Lachryma’ is not only a great song — it’s probably one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. And it has been since I wrote it. I said, ‘That’s stayin’.”

Clearly, Lachryma holds a special place for Forge, and it sounds like it was never in danger of being cut from the album.

Tobias also revealed that De Profundis Borealis and Satanized were originally considered for Ghost’s 2022 album Impera. Describing Satanized, he said it had a vibe similar to Scorpions circa 1977, but the producer ultimately decided those songs didn’t quite fit with the rest of Impera’s sound.

Beyond song choices, Tobias touched on a wide range of topics — from the origins of other tracks to the role of music and politics in Ghost’s world. But we are not going to spoil you all. Just go and listen to the interview.
