Nature Warrior Rockers the Lürxx Release New Single “We Are The Weeds”
London, UK, April 05 2024 – the Lürxx, the Nature Warrior Rock band with glam punk roots, release their new single “We are the Weeds” – igniting the spirit of ’80s arena rock, this song is a high-voltage anthem of defiance and optimism.
With a chorus that begs to be beltedout, it’s a fist-pumping ode to the resilience of weeds. It’s a track brimming with energy and a rebellious attitude, celebrating the unyielding power of nature’s underdogs. It’s a rallying cry for the wild and untamed, a reminder that even in the cracks of life, hope can bloom.
The song was mixed and mastered by James Michael of Sixx:A.M., who also accompanied the band during the recording process. Michael, who has worked with artists such as Mötley Crüe, Meat Loaf, Papa Roach, and Halestorm, praises the band for their “light-hearted but serious” approach to their music and their “exciting passion and rawness”.
The band, which consists of Sabú on recorders, lead guitar and bass and Xavi on vocals, guitars and bass, has a unique backstory that reflects their musical style and message. They started out in the Sunset Strip glam rock scene of the mid-90s, where they played iconic clubs like the Roxy, the Troubadour and the Coconut Teaszer. In 1997, they were nominated “Best Hollywood Band” in the Rock City News Awards. They also have a strong background in environmental sciences, as their vocalist Xavi studied Environmental and Sustainability Sciences and works as an environmental educator parallel to pursuing music full-time.
Can fun, kickass rock’n’roll and activism go together?! Hell yeah! The band describes their genre as “Nature Warrior Rock”, which combines the energy and attitude of glam metal with the awareness and activism of protest songs. They say their goal is to “give our listeners the positive energy they need to keep fighting for a better future – and to make them bang their heads in the process!“ The band draws inspiration from a wide variety of rock legends, from Aerosmith to Van Halen, from Ziggy Stardust to Twisted Sister, from the Small Faces to Mötley Crüe.
One of the most unusual and distinctive features of the band’s music is the use of a recorder, which the band calls “a completely underrated and misunderstood instrument”. Says James Michael: “ A recorder in a hard rock song – that’s just so wrong on so many levels! I love it!”
The Lürxx’ new single “We are the Weeds” is now available on all major streaming platforms and digital stores. The band also released a music video for the song, which showcases the rough beauty of urban weeds – expect dancers, insects, awesome graffitti and a dionysiac faun. The Lürxx hope that their song will inspire and empower their fans to join them in their mission to “rock the world and save the planet.”
