Crazy Lixx Frontman Danny Rexon Picks His Favorite Hair Metal Bands
When we conducted the exclusive interview with Crazy Lixx frontman Danny Rexon back in February this year, we purposely left out one final bonus question—just so we could bring it back when you least expect it. The question was simple: Name your five favorite hair/glam metal bands?
Danny had no trouble answering it. Even it was at the end of the interview he still had time for this one—maybe a less important question, but definitely an interesting one. It’s always nice to hear which bands are appreciated by the musicians you appreciate. Here’s what Danny told us.
By the way, Danny choose the bands of course but the songs are ours!

Ratt – “Underrated”
“Ratt!” Danny Rexon said right out the gate. “I think just because they’re underrated, they had so much good stuff, but I don’t feel like they got the credit that they deserved.” It’s clear that for Danny, Ratt isn’t just another hair metal name—they’re a band that had the goods but didn’t always get the recognition. As fellow hair metal fans, there is nothing but to agree.
Winger – “Very Talented Musicians”
“Then Winger, that’s also a good one,” he continued. “They often get, you know, a bit of a hard time. They were the laughing stock in Beavis and Butt-Head when I was growing up. But they’re actually very talented musicians, and they had a lot of great songs.” Rexon isn’t afraid to defend Winger’s legacy, even if they were once cartoon punchlines. In his eyes, the music speaks for itself.
Giant – “Their First Two Albums Are Great”
“I don’t know if you count Giant as a hair metal band—probably, maybe not the toughest one—but they’re really talented as well. Their first two albums are great.” While Giant might lean a bit more melodic rock realm than the other sleazier one, Danny still rates them highly for their talent and songwriting.
Skipping the Obvious Ones
“I’ll keep it to three,” he added. “Because I don’t want to mention the really obvious ones, like Mötley Crüe or, you know, KISS or Guns N’ Roses or whatever—people all know those bands already.”
Even though Danny didn’t give us all five bands, he actually kind of did. We think we got a complete picture of where the Crazy Lixx frontman draws his inspiration from, and which bands have, in one way or another, shaped the sound of these relentless Swedes—who, back in February, dropped yet another masterpiece of modern melodic glam rock: the album Thrill of the Bite. A record that would surely make even Stephen Pearcy, Kip Winger, or Dann Huff jealous. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the main part of the interview—there’s plenty of juicy and interesting stuff in there about Crazy Lixx.
