Was Nikki Sixx Influenced by the Murderdolls During the Brides of Destruction Era?
Was Nikki Sixx influenced by the Murderdolls back in the 2000s when he was doing his thing with Brides of Destruction? We don’t know for sure—but Wednesday 13 certainly thinks so.
In a recent interview on Chuck Shute podcast, Wednesday 13 opened up about his friendship with Nikki Sixx. He talked about how Nikki helped him get sober and how they’ve been close for years. He also mentioned Motley Cure being one of his biggest influences: “I learned from the best”, said Wednesday 13.
But what stood out was his take on Nikki’s possible influence from the Murderdolls.
According to Wednesday, his previous band Murderdolls, who were exploding with horror-punk sleaze back then, were actually the first band Nikki Sixx chose to interview when they got back together. After all, he added: “When he (Nikki Sixx) was doing Brides Of Destruction, he was very much influenced by Murderdolls. Which is just crazy.”
So, was Nikki Sixx actually influenced by the Murderdolls during the early 2000s? There’s no solid confirmation—but c’mon, that black and red hair during the Brides of Destruction era kind of speaks for itself.
Wednesday 13 is no stranger to the sleazy side of rock. He’s a massive fan of glam, sleaze, and ’80s hair metal—citing bands like Faster Pussycat as key influences. His love for that scene still bleeds into his current music. His latest album, Mid Dead Crisis, features the single “No Apologies,” which includes a guest spot by one and only Taime Downe.
