Gothic Rock Icons Unite: Andy Biersack and Ville Valo Collaborate on Sisters of Mercy Cover

Posted on June 10, 2023June 10, 2023 By JP No Comments on Gothic Rock Icons Unite: Andy Biersack and Ville Valo Collaborate on Sisters of Mercy Cover

Andy Biersack from the band Black Veil Brides and Ville Valo, formerly of HIM, have joined forces for a collaborative cover of the song “Temple of Love” by the legendary gothic rock group Sisters of Mercy. The reason for this musical collaboration is not only their love for the renowned gothic band but also because Black Veil Brides and Ville Valo have announced a joint US tour starting in September of this year.

Black Veil Brides released an EP titled “The Mourning” in October of last year, and their latest album “The Phantom Tomorrow” dates back to 2021.

On the other hand, Ville Valo, the frontman of the famous love metal band HIM, ventured into solo waters for the first time with the album “Neon Noir,” which was released in January 2023.

Andy Biersak about the Sisters of Mercy cover:

“I first discovered Sisters of Mercy in my freshman year of high school, I had a poster of AFI from the Art of Drowning era and Davey was wearing a SOM shirt and so as was often the case back then I went on the hunt to find the music that had inspired my favorite musicians. The very first song I heard by SOM was the ‘92 version of ‘Temple of Love’ and I became obsessed with their entire catalog. We’ve talked about doing a BVB version of this song for years and when given the opportunity to collaborate with fellow SOM fan and goth rock icon VV (Ville Valo) it seems like the perfect situation. We are thrilled with how it turned out and hope that anyone who’s familiar with the track enjoys our spin on it and those who have never heard the original enjoy it and maybe this will lead them down the path to the greatness that is SOM like that poster of AFI did for me when I was a kid.”
