Tobias Forge: Ghost Stage Is “Kinda Like Guns N’ Roses 1991”
Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge recently sat down with Full Metal Jackie, and he dropped a cool little nugget about how some of rock’s biggest bands inspired the Ghost’s current live stage — especially on ongoing Skeletor tour.
Talking about the look of Ghost’s stage, Tobias said:
“As a Guns N’ Roses fan, they also had this stage that was very well represented in the UYI cycle, that, if you look at our staging now, it’s kinda, kinda like Guns N’ Roses 1991. It just looked so cool with all that weird angles and all that.”
And if you’ve ever seen footage from the Use Your Illusion era, you know exactly what he’s talking about — towering risers, jagged platforms, and a vibe that screamed chaos and excess from the most notorious band in the world.
But it’s not just GN’R. Tobias also mentioned being influenced by the epic live productions of The Rolling Stones in the late ‘80s, and three more legendary bands.
So if you’re watching Ghost in 2025 you might be expiriencing straight up GnR 1991. Plus the no phone policy! Well, isn’t that cool or what?
