Styles and Storms Keep The Momentum Going With Another Great Interview
If there were still some late-night countdown shows and someone asked us: “Who is the hottest artist in the glam metal world this July,” which has been surprisingly hot even for Scandinavia, the answer would definitely not be one name, but three: Styles and Storms ft. Eddie Electra!
After visiting the pages of our black-grey-purple world, Emily Storms and Robbie Styles, joined by the mysterious Eddie Electra, gave another fantastic interview, this time for Sleaze TV, whose story is also just getting started.
What these three musicians have managed to do with just one song, one that isn’t even their own but a cover of an underground band Heart Throb Mob, that the average fan has probably never even heard of, is simply unreal. And while we’re still waiting for the witty Glamitarium to premiere the music video for Rumor (no, that’s not a rumor, it’s officially confirmed), here’s what stood out to us the most from their latest appearance. And yes, it has everything to do with the legendary Sunset Strip heroes of the ’90s.
While Emily Storms talked about how much Lonny Lovett (Lonny Paul), the frontman of Heart Throb Mob, meant to that band and the entire movement, together with the incomparable Traci Michaelz, and how technically and emotionally powerful his voice really was, Robbie Styles made an even bolder statement by calling Lonny Lovett one of the greatest singers the genre has ever produced.
“He was better than everybody. And I don’t care. Like I’ll die on this hill. I’ll get the hate comments. He was better than every other singer of that era combined. I don’t care. Like I think so.”
And before you storm the social media comments and jump on your keyboards to explain to both him and us who really is the greatest singer and who isn’t, let’s just say that wasn’t the only interesting thing from this excellent interview. They talked about a lot of topics, and the most interesting part is that in every new interview they reveal something new to the audience. This time, for example, we also found out where the upcoming Rumor music video was filmed.
We should also mention one particularly interesting statement from Eddie Electra about the ’90s scene and the impact of the grunge movement. Before becoming a member of the legendary Peppermint Creeps, a band Robbie Styles would later join himself, Eddie fronted Psycho Gypsy and ruled the Sunset Strip with them. Here’s what he had to say about that period:
“The glam rock party continued all into the ’90s and early mid 2000s… I think a lot of the more mainstream bands are the ones that really felt the brunt of that, the backlash and everything that was going on. They were the ones that really felt it. But us underground bands, it was still happening.”
