They Just Walked Into The Room With A Hit – The Jetsetters

There are plenty of new rock songs that sound perfectly fine, but every once in a while something comes along that makes you stop and pay attention. That was pretty much my reaction to “Above The Noise,” the debut single from The Jetsetters, the new project featuring Tommy London and Britt Lightning.

The story behind the band is almost as interesting as the song itself. Tommy London, known from SiriusXM’s Hair Nation and his time with The Dirty Pearls, first crossed paths with Britt Lightning when he hosted the 2023 M3 Festival, where she was performing with Vixen. They had already noticed each other before eventually starting to write together, and what began as a few ideas eventually turned into ten recorded songs.

The song Above The Noise was co-written with Jacob Bunton (Lynam, Adler’s Appetite), and according to the band, the it came together pretty fast in a single afternoon. That spontaneous approach seems to have worked because the result is exactly the kind of big, hooky rock song that can make you forget about everything else for a few minutes. After hearing it, I ended up saying the words that pretty much summed up my reaction: “We have a hit, guys.”

I liked the song enough to make a new Junkyard reaction video, where I take a closer look at “Above The Noise” and explain why I think The Jetsetters might have something special here. The band plans to keep releasing singles and videos before an album arrives next year, so this may only be the beginning.
