Martin Sweet Confirms He Replaced Tobias Forge in Early Crashdïet Lineup

Crashdïet guitarist Martin Sweet has confirmed that he replaced Tobias Forge in an early version of band.

Speaking during an appearance on the On The Road To Rock podcast, Sweet clarified the timeline of the band’s early lineup, stating:

“I came in right after him. Yeah, I replaced him.”

According to Sweet, the original lineup existed for approximately one to one-and-a-half years before disbanding under unclear circumstances.

“There was this old lineup that only lasted for like a year, or maybe, what, like 18 months. And then everybody left or got fired, nobody really knows.”

Sweet also noted that while he and Forge were never members at the same time, they did meet briefly during the transition period.

“I’ve actually met him back then, you know, when I had just taken his place.”

He described that phase of the band as loosely documented and difficult to fully reconstruct:

“I mean, the whole band are fans of Ghost, kind of, at least this lineup.”

Forge would later go on to achieve international recognition as the frontman of Ghost. For fans of Ghost, this isn’t anything new, but it’s always interesting to hear how things unfolded in the early 2000s, especially from the people who were directly involved in the early years of Crashdïet.
