What Happens When Glam Metal Hits the Streets?
The Glamitarium is back with its fourth episode, and this time it comes directly from the streets of New York City, as almost the entire episode is dedicated to NYC Glam Fest, which took place there at the end of June this year. Emelia Alders (Electric Flare Magazine) and Roxxi Blacc (Tease The Nation) took the lead, interviewing a large number of bands such as Heavens Edge, Wicked, Tykin, Ready To Strike, Midnight Devils, Snowy White and Wanted.
And what does the street actually think about Glam Metal? Tyler from the band Tykin made sure to find out, literally getting into his car and driving around different parts of the city, devouring his hot dogs because, well, you need to have the strength for such an undertaking, and asking ordinary passers-by what they think about his (and ours) beloved genre. Certainly one of the more important moments of this episode, and one worthy of closer examination.
And since we are already talking about examination, it is interesting that we once again did not see Daddy Lawless in this episode, who apparently still has not been released from the sanatorium where he ended up last time. What a shame. For the man, I mean. Roxxi Blacc also did not have her beloved Newsroom segment. Understandable, the hot streets of New York were more important to cover this time around.
For Junkyard readers and loyal lovers of 90s bubbleglam and 00s glam with a peppermint flavor, it should be noted that Styles & Storms, together with Eddie Electra, finally premiered their long-awaited video for the Heart Throb Mob song Rumor. Colorful, sugary and very tasty! Exactly the way it should be. Watch it once and it will be spinning around in your head for hours afterwards.. Interestingly, the video was filmed at the Sparks Pinball Museum in Detroit. Very vibrant and fitting.
Finally, we should mention that the episode was hosted by guitarist Alan Mares from the band Wanted. What, you don’t know who Wanted are? Take it easy, you will hear all about them. There is also a glam battle this time between the bands Show N Tell and Sabire. All this, of course, thanks to Everything Glam Metal and Big Talk Nation.
What happened? Too many new bands and names you don’t know? And where are the Mötleys, Poisons, Cinderellas, Dokkens… Well, they’re not here, and they shouldn’t be! It’s 2026, for God’s sake. Surely some new kids have the right to tease their hair, put on spandex or leather, draw black eyeliner around their eyes and shred their guitars. Besides, if you came here because of hair and glam metal, once you enter the strange universe of The Glamitarium, it will be very hard to get out.
