Crashdïet at Sweden Rock Fest Proves Sleaze Belongs on Big Stages – Concert Recap
The first post-album show of sleaze metal misfits Crashdïet took place, no less, than at the legendary Sweden Rock Fest. Home turf, a large crowd, a big stage, and a massive backdrop featuring the artwork of the new album Art Of Chaos defined this performance.
It was the band’s first show after the release of the new album, but also after their April concert in the middle of the ocean on the Monsters Of Rock Cruise. On the other hand, according to Setlist.fm, when it comes to Sweden’s biggest rock and metal festival, this was the band’s fourth appearance, as they previously played there in 2007, 2011, and 2018.

Among the more notable moments from this year’s concert were two debuts by Chaos Magnetic and Quitter. The new bassist Chris Young stole the show with his red leather pants and by smashing his bass guitar at the end. John Elliot introduced himself to the world as the fourth singer to front the band at Sweden Rock. History sometimes can be ruthless since the only vocalist that never fronted the band at this prestigious festival, was the most iconic one – Dave Lepard. Meanwhile, Martin Sweet, as the only original member, commanded the stage with experience, both in presence and guitar playing. That was until he had minor technical issues during the band’s new overall hit Sick Enough For Me.
All in all, it is great to see this band on big stages (even the one as Blåkläder), and it feels like after each such performance the same impression remains. Sleaze glam bands are simply made for big stages, that is their natural habitat, and they should be playing them as often as possible throughout the year.
The Swedish music website Rocknytt was present at the scene, and on their site you can read a short report from the concert, which they described as entertaining, escapist, and a real middle finger to anyone who thinks rock and roll should give up.
