Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 3 and 4 – Soundtrack and Easter Eggs Breakdown

Unlike the first two, the third and fourth episodes of the second season of Peacemaker didn’t feature as much music as James Gunn has accustomed us to, so we decided to put them both into a single post. Which hits did we get this time? You are gonna need to find it out in the text below, and if you missed the complete musical breakdown of the first two episodes, you can check it out here.

Episode 3

Ammontrack – Break It Out

Around 6:42 – The first song we have in this episode is “Break It Out” by the Swedish hard rock band Ammotrack, founded in 2004. It’s no secret that James Gunn loves the Swedish sleaze glam hard rock scene — this isn’t the first band from that country to appear, and it certainly won’t be the last. The track was released as a single in 2019 and later included on their 2023 album Accelerate. Accelerate indeed is what Peacemaker is doing in this scene with his bike!

Ozzy Osbourne – Dreamer

Around 18:17 – Now, do we really need to talk about this one? No? Okay. It’s Ozzy Osbourne’s big ballad hit “Dreamer” from the 2001 album Down to Earth. The song comes when Peacemaker and Emilia goes to park.

Mighty Crabjoys – right after the walking in the park scene ends, we can see a billboard with fictional band made up by James |Gunn. This band also appeared in Superman and it’s Clark Kent’s favorite rock band.

Shining – Animal

Around 34:48 – James Gunn definitely has great taste in music, because the next song in this episode comes from a band that’s being featured here on Junkyard for the very first time. It’s the Norwegian group Shining, formed in Oslo in 1999. Their track “Animal” is from their latest album, released in 2018. How you want to label their music is really up to you – it’s experimental and spans a wide spectrum, from Muse and Ghost to Gojira and perhaps Meshuggah.

Episode 4

Pretty Maids – Please Don’t Leave Me

Around 22:16 – Now this one’s more than interesting. The song in this episode is performed by Danish heavy metal veterans Pretty Maids, taken from their 1992 album Sin Decade. But, but! It’s not even their own song. The original comes from John Sykes, who put it out as a single back in 1982. Fresh out of Tygers of Pan Tang, he was forced by the label to release something, so he came up with an instrumental called “Please Don’t Leave Me.” Then he called up none other than Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy to help finish it off. And the rest, well… that’s the story. Oh yeah — it also turned into one of Pretty Maids’ biggest songs, so much so that they re-recorded it for their 1993 album Stripped.

H.E.A.T – A Shot At Redemption

Around 34:12 – Now, if we don’t count the opening track – Foxy Shazam’s “Oh Lord”, this H.E.A.T tune that plays at the end of Episode 4 is the last of only two songs featured here. It comes from their 2014 album Tearing Down the Walls, with Erik Grønwall on vocals. And by the way, in case you didn’t know, H.E.A.T are currently on tour promoting their brand-new release Welcome to the Future.
