Junkyard Radar: Quiet Riot, Budderside, Wig Wam, John Diva, Seether…

Junkyard Radar is a place where we take a quick look at everything new in the world of music, covering the first half of December. This is, as we have already mentioned, a section for enthusiasts and those who like to dig a bit deeper into musical novelties.

Quiet Riot – I Can’t Hold On

Although this is a well-known band, we are placing the legendary QR in this section because they have released a new song that we have never had the chance to hear before, and the recording features two members of the band’s original lineup. Singer Kevin DuBrow, who passed away in 2007, and drummer Frankie Banali, who lost his battle with cancer in 2020. The song was released by the band’s current guitarist Alex Grossi and it dates back to 2003, and it was originally written at that time by Dubrow and Grossi.

Budderside – Joker

I was just wondering what happened to the band Budderside and why so much time had passed since their last single, when at the beginning of December they finally broke their silence and released, at least for me, that long-awaited new track as a continuation of completing their third album. The song is called Joker and, as the band’s singer Patrick Stone explained, it is dedicated to his father who passed away from Covid in 2020 and who, during his life, was a pilot of light aerobatic planes. Because of this, the music video is also made in that style.

Wig Wam – Out Of The Dark

Norwegian glam rockers Wig Wam have released a new song, announcing an album for 2023. The renewed interest in the band comes after the release of the series Peacemaker, in which the song Do You Wanna Taste It was practically the first soundtrack in very strong competition with similar bands and artists. A classic example of how influential TV series and films are in today’s music business. Before the release of this series, Wig Wam were practically not active as a band, meaning they were on a long break with no real plans to reunite.

John Diva and The Rockets Of Love – God Made Radio

If Steel Panther’s silly lyrics bother you, but you still like 80s extravagance and tributes to that era, then John Diva is the right thing for you. With the song God Made Radio they are announcing a new album that will be released next year and will be called The Big Easy. I have mentioned them several times already on Junkyard and I think it is about time you give them a chance.

Seether – Something In The Way (cover)

If someone asked me which band I would trust to do Nirvana covers, it would definitely be Seether. Any song, anytime, anywhere. On this occasion the band is celebrating 20 years since the release of their debut album Disclaimer and in honor of that anniversary they have covered this well-known song and made a lyric video. Even though the choice of cover is somewhat obvious, considering what happened with this song because of the Batman movie, we have to say that this version actually comes from one of Seether’s live performances from 2002. So we will forgive them this, at first glance, obvious streaming chase.
